Sugar - Getting it in Perspective
- (cont) not a problem in foods like a fruit yoghurt. Go for plain or diet versions instead of those loaded with added sugar.
- Sugar has been added if in the ingredients list you see the words sugar, sucrose, glucose, fructose, maltose, hydrolysed starch and invert sugar, corn syrup and honey.
- ook for foods with ‘no added sugar’; fruit canned in juice not syrups and breakfast cereals like porridge, Weetabix, Oatibix and Shreddies, which are some of the lower sugar cereals on our supermarket shelve.
- Try reducing sugar you use in recipes. You can make cakes, biscuits and puddings with less sugar than most recipes recommend.
