Sugar - Getting it in Perspective


  1. (cont) not a problem in foods like a fruit yoghurt. Go for plain or diet versions instead of those loaded with added sugar.
  2. Sugar has been added if in the ingredients list you see the words sugar, sucrose, glucose, fructose, maltose, hydrolysed starch and invert sugar, corn syrup and honey.
  3. ook for foods with ‘no added sugar’; fruit canned in juice not syrups and breakfast cereals like porridge, Weetabix, Oatibix and Shreddies, which are some of the lower sugar cereals on our supermarket shelve.
  4. Try reducing sugar you use in recipes. You can make cakes, biscuits and puddings with less sugar than most recipes recommend.
